Flick, Yaw: Nearly $2.5 Million Awarded in Lycoming, Union Counties

HARRISBURG – Rep. Jamie Flick (R-Lycoming/Union) and Sen. Gene Yaw (R-Bradford/Lycoming/Sullivan/Tioga/Union) today announced $2,465,403 in state funding has been awarded to projects in Lycoming and Union counties through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA). The awards were considered at today’s CFA Board meeting and approved through the authority’s Multimodal Transportation Fund Program (MTF) and Small Water and Sewer Program (SWS).

“Funding for these projects will help the city with safety measures during events, further connect the bike and walking trail system from the riverwalk to other parts of the community, and rebuild decades-old water and sewer systems to better, more safely serve residents and businesses in the district,” Flick said. “I am thankful to work with Sen. Yaw to secure this critical funding.”

“Today’s awards will enhance public safety and ensure our region’s infrastructure meets the needs of residents for years to come,” Yaw said. “I was pleased to join Rep. Flick in advocating for this funding to help make these projects a reality.”

The following Lycoming County projects were awarded funding:

• Lycoming County – Susquehanna River Walk Extension Trail Construction - $1,250,000 (MTF)
• Williamsport City – 4th Street Bollard Project - $290,403 (MTF)
• West Branch Regional Authority – Brady Twp. Regionalization - $100,000 (SWS)
• West Branch Regional Authority – SR 54 Low Pressure Sewer Extension - $100,000 (SWS)
• Williamsport Municipal Water Authority – Advanced Metering Infrastructure - $225,000 (SWS)

Additionally, White Deer Township Sewer Authority in Union County was awarded $500,000 in SWS funding for its New Columbia Pump Station Replacement Project.

The MTF provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to the residents of the Commonwealth. Funds may be used for the development, rehabilitation and enhancement of transportation assets to existing communities, streetscape, lighting, sidewalk enhancement, pedestrian safety, connectivity of transportation assets and transit-oriented development.

The SWS Program provides grants for small water, sewer and storm water infrastructure projects. Municipalities and municipal authorities that own and maintain a public water supply, sanitary sewer or storm water systems are eligible to apply if their projects exceed a total cost of $30,000.
