Flick, Hamm Announce $25,000 Grant for Lycoming Career and Technology Center

HARRISBURG – Reps. Jamie Flick (R-Lycoming/Union) and Joe Hamm (R – Lycoming/Sullivan) announced Lycoming Career and Technology Center (LycoCTC) is receiving $25,000 so the school can strengthen its training programs and give students access to modern equipment they need to succeed.

The money will be used to purchase new equipment, including an ironworker, for classrooms in a new training facility being built to keep up with the welding program enrollment and training demand.

“We need to continue to give students in each career field the biggest opportunity to pursue a high-quality education that prepares them for success,” Flick said. “I have helped secure funding for the Lycoming Career and Technology Center’s expansion of welding and other programs in the past, and I’m proud to see this funding reaffirm the Commonwealth’s confidence in the program.”

“Giving more students an opportunity to get into programs to receive excellent technical education is very important to me,” Hamm said. “Lycoming Career and Technology Center is producing the future workforce we need for critical jobs in our community, region and commonwealth. I was honored to support this funding for LycoCTC.”

The school was one of 10 across the state to receive funding through the Manufacturing PA Training-to-Career Grant Program.

The Lycoming Career and Technology Center is in the middle of a multi-phase expansion project that is expected to add new programs in welding and diesel technology, relocate the early childhood education program into the main facility, and increase the school’s capacity by approximately 150 students.
